Enrico Caruso (Mario Lanza) is driven by his singular passion for singing. Leaving his hometown of Naples, Italy, he journeys to America to perform at the Metropolitan Opera. Initially, his limited education and humble background make him an outsider among the opera elite. However, his extraordinary voice soon wins over audiences and secures the love of Dorothy (Ann Blyth). Despite his rising fame, Caruso's relentless dedication to his art ultimately takes a toll on his health.
