Roman centurion Marcian is captured by Attila the Hun while en route to Constantinople, but manages to escape. Upon his arrival, Marcian discovers that Emperor Theodosius of the Eastern Roman Empire is conspiring with Attila, planning to ignore the Hun's advance on Rome. Marcian gains the support of Pulcheria, the emperor's sister, who desires unity for the Empire. As Attila’s armies approach, the situation appears dire for the weakened imperial forces, yet Attila remains wary of the power wielded by the Christians' God.
