The Charge at Feather River (1953)
Set during the American West, the story follows an overland expedition through hostile Cheyenne territory to rescue two white women who have been captured by the Cheyenne. One of the women, having turned renegade, is reluctant to be rescued as she is about to marry Chief Thunder Hawk. Tragedy strikes as Vera Miles' character dies, but the cavalry arrives just in time at Feather River. The film is packed with action, with knives, arrows, spears, and tomahawks flying at the audience. In a memorable moment, Frank Lovejoy's character fends off a rattlesnake with tobacco juice and even fires a shot toward the audience.
