Ex-gunman George Temple and his wife Dora are forced to flee each time his skill with a gun is revealed, fearing challenges from other gunmen. One night, George drunkenly reveals his secret once again. The townspeople vow to protect him and help him give up his guns. However, a young boy shares the secret with a gang of fugitives. Their leader, Vinnie Harold, threatens to burn down the town unless George agrees to a duel.
