James Craig stars as a man torn between two lives: his criminal career as the masked bandit known as the "El Paso Kid", and his desire to live as a law-abiding citizen with his long-suffering wife, Zoe (played by Lynn Bari). Throughout the film, he repeatedly promises Zoe that his criminal activities are "just one more time," but his inability to stop causes increasing tension and anger in their relationship. Amidst these struggles, he displays moments of heroism, notably when he helps the Widow Weeks (Una Merkel) save her farm.
