An investigator for the District Attorney's office quits to open his own detective agency, but business is so poor that he decides to return to his old job. While his wife is closing up the office, a wealthy society matron hires her to find out if her husband is having an affair with his ex-girlfriend. The wife accepts, hoping to revive the agency, but the case takes a dark turn when the client's husband is found murdered. Determined to solve the case herself, she begins investigating, unaware that her own husband has also been assigned to the murder by the D.A.—and has no idea his wife is on the case. As both pursue the truth, complications and comedic twists ensue.
