Former big-city newsman Larry Wilder is tired of battling the establishment and looks forward to a peaceful life as a small-town newspaper editor. However, his tranquil hopes are shattered when a young Latino farmworker is provoked into a fight by racist rich boys. Wilder soon finds himself the only white citizen willing to defend the boy's rights. He teams up with Sunny Garcia, who works for a weekly newspaper serving the Hispanic community, in a determined effort to seek justice and possibly save a life.
