Johnny Aysgarth is a charming gambler who survives by borrowing money from friends. He meets the shy Lina McLaidlaw on a train while attempting to travel first class with a third class ticket. Johnny quickly courts Lina, and they marry soon after. However, following their honeymoon, Lina begins to discover Johnny's true character. Her suspicions grow when Johnny's friend and business partner, Beaky, dies under mysterious circumstances.
