Jimmy Connors and his girlfriend dream of entering Paul Whiteman's high school band contest, but they can't afford the trip. A chance encounter with Paul Whiteman gives them the opportunity to prove their band's talent, and Whiteman lends them the money. However, when one of their friends falls seriously ill and must be flown to a hospital, they are forced to use the contest funds for medical expenses.
