Princess Rosalie (Eleanor Powell), the daughter of King Frederick (Frank Morgan) of the small European country of Romanza, travels incognito to America and enrolls at Vassar. While attending a football game at nearby West Point, she meets Dick Thorpe (Nelson Eddy), the team captain. The two fall in love, and Rosalie invites Dick to visit her homeland. Upon his arrival in Romanza, Dick finds the country in the midst of a revolution, forcing Rosalie and her family to flee for their lives.
