In this sophisticated comedy, Elyot and Sibyl are married in a grand church ceremony, while Amanda and Victor tie the knot before a French Justice of the Peace. Both couples end up at the same hotel, occupying adjoining rooms and terraces. When Amanda unexpectedly encounters her former husband Elyot on the adjacent terrace, old emotions resurface. While pretending to be content in their new marriages, both secretly plan to leave. Their respective spouses refuse, determined to enjoy their honeymoons, and head to the bar—leaving Elyot and Amanda alone. They reminisce and soon rekindle their passionate romance, deciding to run away together to the Swiss mountains.
