In this light romantic comedy, 17-year-old Ann Harper (Loretta Young) is a wealthy socialite who stands to inherit a fortune—provided her family remains free from any public scandals and her two aunts and uncle consent to her marriage. Ann, put off by these conditions, is determined to cause a scandal so that none of her family will receive the inheritance. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. plays Gil 'Gilly' Hayden, an upright young man who is volunteered to "compromise" Ann, but the two end up genuinely falling in love. When Fairbanks is discovered in Ann's boudoir, he makes a rapid exit out the nearest window. Although their romance seems doomed, Fairbanks and his friends hatch a plan, unwittingly helped by Ann’s two prudish aunts.
