Hap Smith, a nightclub entertainer, creates a new act with his partner Betsy Carter, performing a comedic parody of a soldier after his former partner, Chick Allen, joins the army. Chick, now at Fort Benning, is organizing a soldier show and needs Hap's help. To enter the base, Hap impersonates a real soldier, Dogface Dolan.
