An out-of-work swing band secures a job working for a political campaign, entertaining and drawing in potential voters at rallies. The candidate they support is actually a pawn for a corrupt political machine, which soon realizes the band's charismatic singer would make an even better front. Amid the campaign, romance develops between the band's singers. As election day nears, the band's singer wishes to leave the campaign, but the machine threatens to smear him and his friends if he walks away.
