Fritzi Haller is a powerful casino owner in Chuckawalla, Nevada. Her daughter, Paula, returns home after quitting school, just as notorious racketeer Eddie Bendix comes back to town following suspicions surrounding the death of his wife. As Paula and Eddie become romantically involved, Fritzi, Paula's former beau Tom, and Eddie's friend Johnny all attempt to end their relationship.
