Scotty Hamilton is a reporter working for a corrupt editor. Bill Banning, another reporter, is on the verge of exposing the editor's connections to the mob. When the editor is murdered, suspicion falls on both Banning and mobster Tony Garcia. However, Hamilton's friend Edgar Bergen steps in to solve the case—with limited assistance from Charlie McCarthy.
