Inept insurance salesman Milford Farnsworth inadvertently sells a $100,000 insurance policy to the notorious Jesse James. When Milford's boss discovers the sale, he dispatches Milford to recover the policy. Milford is quickly outsmarted when a masked Jesse robs him of the money meant to buy back the policy. The boss then takes matters into his own hands, carrying more money to try again. Jesse devises a scheme: he'll rob Milford's boss, have Milford (disguised as Jesse) killed during the robbery, and then collect the insurance payout.
