When two orphans, Polly and Doug, are left in the care of their stepmother Lynne, tragedy strikes as Polly collapses with the same mysterious symptoms that killed her father. Their visiting uncle, Whitney Cameron, is warned that the symptoms resemble strychnine poisoning—an insidious crime that is difficult to prove and even harder to prosecute.
