Set in Yeoman's Hospital in the English Midlands shortly after the founding of the NHS, "White Corridors" follows the story of Dr. Sophie Dean, a talented young surgeon. Sophie faces a difficult choice between her love for pathologist Dr. Neil Marriner and a prestigious career opportunity in London. Dr. Marriner is conducting research into penicillin-resistant infections when he accidentally infects himself with a sample taken from a young boy who later dies of septicaemia. As Neil's condition worsens, he asks Sophie to administer his experimental serum if no other options remain, despite the risk that she could be charged with manslaughter if he dies. Ultimately, Neil is saved, and Sophie chooses to remain with him. This moving, humorous, and dramatic film is noted for its excellent attention to detail.
