Set in 1942 California, Navy demolition team diver Lieutenant Kenneth M. Braden falls in love with Sally Johnson and proposes marriage. Sally hesitates, asking for more time, but Braden is soon called to a Pacific base for a classified mission. He later discovers Sally also works for the Navy and has been assigned to evaluate him for this dangerous operation. Braden boards the submarine Barracuda, commanded by Commander Paul Stevenson, and must infiltrate a Japanese-held island to photograph secret radio codes, risking everything for the mission's success.
