Sergeant Victor joins the French Foreign Legion, taking responsibility for his brother's crime. While there, Cigarette, a spirited woman, falls in love with Victor, though Major Doyle harbors feelings for her. Out of jealousy, Doyle sends Victor on perilous missions in hopes of removing him. Meanwhile, Victor finds himself attracted to Lady Venetia Cunningham, a guest at the garrison.
