Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. (1951)
Set in 1807 during the Napoleonic Wars, "Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N." follows Captain Horatio Hornblower as he commands the HMS Lydia on a secret and perilous mission around Cape Horn and into the Pacific. Neither his men nor his officers know their destination or the purpose of their voyage. Britain is at war with Napoleon, and Hornblower's orders eventually lead them to the Pacific coast of Central America. There, they are tasked with aiding Don Julian Alvarado, who plans to attack France's Spanish allies in North America, hoping to divert French military resources. The situation changes rapidly: after capturing a Spanish galleon and handing it to Alvarado, Hornblower learns that Spain has become an ally of England, and he must recover the ship.
