Set in Vienna, 1956, after Soviet tanks crush the Hungarian uprising, soldier-of-fortune Mike Reynolds is hired to help a threatened Hungarian scientist, Professor Jansci, escape from Budapest. Together with Julia, the professor's daughter, they cross the border disguised as journalists. However, they face an unexpected complication when the staunch freedom fighter, Professor Jansci, resists leaving his country.
