King Louis XIII of France is overjoyed at the birth of a son, his heir to the throne. However, when the queen gives birth to twins, Cardinal Richelieu views the second son as a threat to the realm's stability. To ensure peace, Richelieu sends the second twin to Spain to be raised in secret, compelling Constance, D'Artagnan's beloved, to enter a convent to protect the secret. D'Artagnan, upon hearing of Constance's fate, rallies the Musketeers to rescue her, but Richelieu outsmarts them and banishes them for good. Richelieu then entrusts D'Artagnan with the protection of the young prince. Meanwhile, Count de Rochefort discovers the existence of the twins and Richelieu's scheme. He kidnaps the hidden twin and raises him in secret. Years pass, Richelieu dies, and the prince becomes King Louis XIV. Rochefort enacts his plan: he kidnaps the King, replaces him with his twin, and imprisons Louis XIV in a remote castle with his face covered by an iron mask. With danger mounting, Louis XIV manages to alert D'Artagnan, who reunites Athos, Porthos, and Aramis—the legendary Musketeers—to thwart Rochefort's plot, facing high personal costs in the battle for justice.
