William Eythe and Anne Baxter star as young lovers whose dreams for the future are put on hold by the onset of the pre-war military draft. Eythe's character is sent to the Philippines, where he finds himself trapped on a remote, desolate island after reinforcements are diverted by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Despite the isolation and harsh conditions, Eythe and his fellow soldiers experience both grueling and uplifting challenges.
