At breakfast, Jane announces that she and Ralph are getting married the following week. The couple wants only a small wedding with immediate family and no reception, since Jane's parents are poor and Jane and Ralph can only afford to borrow a car for their honeymoon. However, that evening at dinner, Ralph's parents discuss the elaborate weddings they gave their daughters, and soon the simple ceremony balloons into a grand affair with hundreds of guests.
