Retired British General Brunswick reminisces about his days as a colonel commanding a British Army battalion in colonial India during the late 1800s, battling against native rebels. His fondest memories involve his second-in-command, Captain Pindenny, and his three most unruly yet valuable soldiers: Privates Archibald Ackroyd, Bill Sykes, and Dennis Malloy. These three are both the cause of many of his gray hairs and the source of his most memorable and humorous moments during their 18-year military career together. When Colonel Groat arrives as the new battalion commander, Brunswick, now retiring, begins to display the same rebellious spirit as his troublesome trio. Tensions rise due to the traditional rivalry between cavalry and infantry; Colonel Brunswick and his unit are infantry, while Colonel Groat and his escort belong to the cavalry. Cast: - Stewart Granger as Archibald Ackroyd - Walter Pidgeon as Colonel Brunswick - David Niven as Captain Pindenny - Robert Newton as Bill Sykes - Cyril Cusack as Dennis Malloy - Greta Gynt as Crenshaw - Robert Coote as Major Mercer - Dan O'Herlihy as Sergeant Murphy - Michael Ansara as Manik Rao Runtime: 92 minutes
