Pimpernel Smith (1941)
Set in mid-1939, as Germany and England prepare for an inevitable conflict, "Pimpernel Smith" follows Professor Horatio Smith, an outwardly eccentric academic who invites his students on an archaeological expedition to continental Europe. Unbeknownst to them, Smith is actually a daring individual responsible for smuggling enemies of the Nazi regime out of Germany. Once his students uncover his covert mission, they join him in his fight against oppression. Complications arise, however, when a student brings a mysterious woman into their circle—a woman secretly working for the Gestapo. Cast: - Leslie Howard as Professor Horatio Smith - Francis L.
