Ex-convict Danny Kean attempts to turn his life around by becoming a photographer for a newspaper. He falls in love with Patricia, whose father, Mr. Nolan, is the policeman who previously arrested Danny. Initially, Mr. Nolan disapproves of their relationship, but Kean's boss, McLean, persuades him of Danny's reformation. However, Danny's ambition leads him to use his connection with Patricia to take a sensational photo of an execution, resulting in Nolan losing his stripes and forbidding Danny from seeing Patricia.
