Outward Bound (1930) - Leslie Howard, Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
Henry and Ann, a young loving couple, have made a secret pact to be carried out at midnight: they plan to stow away on a mysterious passenger ship, leaving behind their beloved dog Laddy. Although determined, they are both apprehensive about this bittersweet decision. Onboard, Tom Prior, a young man struggling with drinking, senses something strange about the voyage, as none of the passengers seem to recall who they're meeting or where they're headed—except socialite Mrs. Cliveden-Banks, who is en route to see her husband, Bunny. Other passengers include Reverend William Duke, wealthy businessman Mr. Lingley (Tom's former employer), the elderly working-class Mrs. Midget, and Scrubby, the lone steward. As the journey progresses, Tom uncovers the true nature of their voyage, unraveling the mystery more swiftly than most before him.
