After living abroad for several years, journalist John Royer returns to the United States just after its entry into World War II. Royer boasts that he could easily smuggle rubber—a key wartime natural resource—out of Malaya. He is soon tasked with doing exactly that. To assist him, he arranges the release of Carnaghan, an old acquaintance, from Alcatraz. Disguised as Irishmen, they travel to Southeast Asia, where Carnaghan assembles a crew of former associates.
