Set in 1463, Paris is under siege by the Duke of Burgundy, the arch-rival of King Louis XI, who does little as the poor suffer. Amidst threats of betrayal within the city, King Louis disguises himself to uncover a traitor, leading him to cross paths with François Villon, a poet, philosopher, and rogue. When Villon inadvertently kills the king's betrayer, he is unexpectedly appointed as Grand Constable of France—though not without a twist.
