A series of stagecoach holdups in the Arizona Territory comes to a head when undercover agent Mike Ryan and Molly Jones, the sheriff's daughter, become passengers on a targeted stagecoach. During the robbery, a bandit's mask slips and he is killed by gang leader Velvet Clark, who poses as a respectable citizen and piano player in the community. Townspeople, fed up with the robberies, demand Sheriff Tom Jones resign, but relent when he deputizes Ryan. When evidence points to Clark, he murders the sheriff and flees. Ryan pursues him to Gunsight Ridge for a final showdown.
