Three San Quentin escapees—Penny, Hastings, and Morgan—kill a cop during a gas-station holdup. Wounded, Morgan seeks refuge with his former cellmate, Steve Lacey, who is now paroled and trying to live a new life with his wife. Lacey risks everything by becoming involved, while homicide detective Sims pressures him to help catch Penny and Hastings.
