Set in 1947 as the British prepare to leave India, "Bhowani Junction" explores the struggles of the Anglo-Indian community, who fear the loss of their privileged status. Victoria Jones, an Anglo-Indian WAC in the British Army, finds herself torn between cultures and loyalties. While close to Patrick Taylor, another Anglo-Indian, Victoria is disturbed by his hostility toward Indians. A shocking incident involving Col. Rodney Savage, who orders soldiers to mistreat peaceful protesters, pushes Victoria to re-examine her identity and brings her closer to Ranjit Singh Kassi, a Sikh who represents her longing to embrace Indian heritage.
